Need Holiday Scrapbook Inspiration? See How This Cookie Decorating Layout Comes Together!

Updated: Sep 7

I’m thrilled to share a holiday scrapbook layout that captures the sweet moments of my little man decorating sugar cookies for his school party. This adorable 12x12 single-page layout, featuring a mix of CTMH and Stampin’ Up! products, is perfect for creating a festive and heartwarming scrapbook page.

Materials Used:

CTMH Freshly Baked Stamps and Thin Cuts: This is used to create adorable baking-themed images.

CTMH Freshly Baked Digital Art Kit: Includes digital elements like baking trays, oven mitts, and rolling pins, perfect for enhancing the baking theme.

Stampin’ Up! “Sweetest Star” Stamp & Punch: Used for adding festive stars as the wreath around the layout.

Stampin’ Up! “Take a Bow” 6x6 DSP: Provides beautiful patterned paper for background and embellishments.

CTMH Glacier Shimmer Brush: Adds a sparkling touch to the layout.

CTMH Cardstock: Candy Apple, White Daisy

Used for the page border, base, and photo matting.

Stampin’ Up! Cardstock: Pool Party, Granny Apple, Poppy Parade, Crumb Cake: Used for the stars and additional decorative elements.

Stampin’ Blends and Tri-Blend Markers: To color the stamped images.

Prepping the Page:

The creative process began in Design Space, where I envisioned the layout’s overall look before bringing it to life:

1. Stamping: Using the CTMH Intense Black Ink, I stamped images from the Sweetest Star and Freshly Baked sets. After drying, these were vibrantly colored with Stampin’ Blends and Tri-Blend Markers.

2. Punching Stars: I used the Sweetest Star punch on various papers from the Take a Bow DSP, as well as on solid cardstock in thematic colors, with edges inked to match.

3. Base Preparation: I cut an 11” square from the center of Candy Apple Cardstock to create a framed effect on the layout’s border.

4. Blending and Splattering:

An 8x8 circle scrap helped guide the application of Glacier ink on White Daisy Cardstock, setting the stage for a frosted background effect.

Once the circle was dry, I used a piece of scrap cardstock, turned it diagonally, and spattered Glacier Shimmer Brush to add some sparkle.

5. Title Crafting: The title “One Cute Cookie” was crafted using selective inking to highlight different words in different colors, adding a playful touch to the layout.

Assembly of the Page:

1. Base Assembly

Attach the Candy Apple border to the White Daisy cardstock.

2. Adding Elements

Position the print and cut baking trays from the CTMH Digital Art Kit in the bottom right-hand corner

.

3. Star Arrangement

Arrange the patterned paper stars around the circle. Half of each star should overlap into the white area, creating a glow effect around the wreath.

4. Photo Placement

Place your photo in the center of the baking trays.

5: Add stamped and colored images of frosting bags and a Santa cookie, popping up the Santa cookie with foam tape for dimension.

6. Cookie Embellishments

Apply foam tape to the back of the remaining stamped cookies and arrange them around the wreath.

7. Title and Final Touches:

Position the title "One Cute Cookie" in the top left of the wreath, accompanied by the oven mitts to the right and rolling pins beneath the title for a charming finish.

This layout, meticulously crafted with holiday spirit and a touch of creativity, not only showcases a festive activity but also immortalizes a precious memory of family fun during the holiday season. It’s a beautiful reminder of the joy and creativity that comes with the festive season, especially when shared with loved ones.
