Scrapbook Your Recipe: Turning Family Recipes into Cherished Memories

I absolutely love spending time in the kitchen baking with my little man! 🎄👩‍🍳 This year, we’re not only capturing our baking photos but the recipes too! 📸✨ He’s always asking me to write them down, so I thought I’d give it a ‘swirl’ (pun intended 😉) and create a fun recipe scrapbook page featuring our famous Candy Cane Fudge. Sweet memories and sweet treats—what could be better? 🍬❤️

Scrapbooking isn’t just about preserving photo memories; it’s about capturing the essence of cherished moments, no matter what form they take—even a beloved family recipe! I love blending my passion for baking with memory keeping, turning recipes into timeless mementos that my little man can look back on.

Family Traditions: Baking and Memory Keeping

Every holiday season, we make it a point to bake goodies for those we care about—our neighbors, friends, and even those we meet along the way. It’s a family tradition that brings so much joy into our home and spreads Christmas cheer everywhere we go. One of the most requested treats —Candy Cane Fudge!

Creating this layout allowed me to combine both the fun of baking and the joy of scrapbooking. If you’re a fan of turning family traditions into scrapbook memories, this layout will definitely resonate with you!

Materials You’ll Need:

Basic Black 12” x 12” Two-Tone Cardstock (for photo mats and transitions)

CTMH Toffee Cardstock (Stampin' Up! Crumb Cake Can Be Substituted)

CTMH Freshly Baked Digital Art Kit (for embellishments)

Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends (for coloring the candy canes)

Real Red & White Adhesive-Backed Peppermints (for poinsettia centers and embellishment clusters)

Stampin' Up! Early Expresso Classic Stampin' Pad (for inking edges)

CTMH Gold Shimmer Brush (for adding sparkle)

Poinsettia Petals Stamp and Die Bundle (for poinsettias and leaves)

Garden Green Classic Stampin’ Pad (for inking leaf edges)

Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blends (for detailing leaf veins)

Foam tape, sponge daubers, adhesives & Paper Trimmer

Step-by-Step Process: Building the Layout

To ensure my layout is perfectly balanced and easy to replicate, I designed it in Design Space®️. This tool helps me visualize the final product and determine the exact measurements needed for each element, such as photos, embellishments, and borders. By using Design Space, I can place and adjust all the pieces digitally, making the physical assembly process smoother and more efficient. It’s a fantastic way to plan every detail before cutting the materials!

Step 1: Start with the Base

The base of this layout uses the Regal Distressed Patterns DSP as the backdrop. To add structure and definition, I used Basic Black Cardstock 1/4” strips to transition between sections of the patterned paper. This subtle detail helps create a neat, clean look while maintaining the focus on the layout.

Step 2: Create the Center Panel

Next, I cut a 10.25” x 10.25” piece of CTMH Toffee cardstock or Stampin' Up! Crumb Cake and a 10” x 10” piece of White Willow cardstock, layering them over each other. These layers form the center panel, serving as the foundation for the photos and embellishments.

Step 3: Add Sparkle and Shine

I used the CTMH Gold Shimmer Brush to splatter gold around the layout, particularly in the corners and near embellishment clusters. This added a hint of sparkle that brought the whole page to life.

Step 4: Double Mat the Photos

The photos are double-matted to add dimension and focus. I used Basic Black, Toffee, and White Willow cardstock for the mats, with the Toffee cardstock edges inked using CTMH Mocha ink (or Stampin' Up! Early Expresso Classic Stampin' Pad) for added warmth. The double matting ensured that the photos stood out and created a cohesive festive

palette.

Step 5: Adding the Embellishments

Most of my embellishments were created using the CTMH Freshly Baked Digital Art Kit and my Cricut®️ machine for print-and-cut elements.

For a festive touch, I also added poinsettias using the Poinsettia Petals Stamp and Die Bundle. The White Willow poinsettias were paired with Garden Green Cardstock leaves, which were inked along the edges using Garden Green Stampin’ Pad.

For leaf vein detailing, I used Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blends, and finally, the Real Red & White Adhesive-Backed Peppermints added a playful, festive touch to the centers of the poinsettias and embellishment clusters.
