Our second Christmas trip to Disneyland and another magical stay at the Paradise Pier Hotel—tropical vibes and Disney memories captured in this 12x12 layout!

This 12x12 layout brought back all the magical memories, from tropical vibes to cozy rooms and a surprise about that stunning view!

Disney Paradise Pier Hotel

“A Room with a View”

Just kidding! This isn’t the view from our room—it’s the stunning view we had from the hallway leading to our room! 😂 As for our room, we had a pool view, and honestly, it was perfect. Why, you ask? Because we could spy on the hot tub from our window! Knowing whether it was empty before heading down was a total game-changer.

Who needs a park view when you’ve got the ultimate hot tub surveillance system? Best. View. Ever. 🌊✨

Creating the Layout: A Tropical Paradise on Paper

The Shiplap Background 🌊

Creating the perfect shiplap background using White Willow cardstock and a CTMH Linen Ink Pad. Beachy vibes, check!

To capture the beachy vibes of Paradise Pier, I created a shiplap background by scoring the White Willow cardstock and swiping it with the CTMH Linen Ink Pad. (Pro Tip: Let the ink dry fully before layering for a crisp, clean look!)

Layering the Foundation 🌴

Layering patterned and solid cardstocks for depth and dimension—Disney tropical perfection in the making!

For the layout’s base, I cut papers from the Otterly Adorable DSP, Pretty Peacock, and Lagoon cardstock. These layered beautifully on the shiplap background, adding depth and dimension. (Pro Tip: Mixing patterned papers with solids creates a balanced, polished design.)

Adding the Tropical Embellishments 🌺

Stamping and die-cutting

Stampin’ Up! Happy Hibiscus dies and stamped flowers bring this layout to life with pops of tropical color.
Stampin’ Up! Happy Hibiscus dies and stamped flowers bring this layout to life with pops of tropical color.

Using the Happy Hibiscus Stamp Set and Dies, I stamped flowers in Pretty Peacock, Glacier, and Lagoon inks onto White Willow cardstock. The leaves were die-cut from Old Olive and Garden Green cardstocks, with the edges inked in Old Olive for depth. I also added dimension by highlighting the embossed leaf veins with a Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blends Marker.

Mini hibiscus flowers were die-cut from Melon Mambo cardstock to add pops of pink throughout the design.

Matting the Photos

Double-matted photos in Pool Party and White Willow cardstock keep the tropical theme cohesive.

Each photo was double-matted in Pool Party and White Willow cardstocks, creating a cohesive look that ties back to the tropical color scheme.

Titles and Focal Points

Using Deckled Circle Dies, I created circle clusters in Old Olive and White Willow cardstock. These served as the base for the layout’s titles and embellishment clusters.

(Pro Tip: Keep your design cohesive by repeating shapes, like the circles, across your layout!)

The Final Touches: A Little Disney Magic ✨

Deckled Circle Dies frame the layout’s titles and embellishments, adding the perfect focal points.

Once everything was in place, I positioned the hibiscus flowers and leaves in clusters around the circles. The layout came together beautifully, bringing back memories of Paradise Pier.

(Pro Tip: Adhering embellishments with foam tape adds subtle dimension and prevents the page from looking flat.)
