How to Make a Grinch Stocking Pull Top Gift Card Holder with Stampin’ Up! Supplies
If you love Christmas crafting as much as I do, then you’re going to enjoy this project—my Grinch Stocking Pull Top Gift Card Holder! This blog post focuses on using SVG files, Stampin’ Up! “Stampin’ Blends” markers, and how the right color selection can bring depth, dimension, and life to your creations.
This Grinch-inspired gift card holder was created using the same basic stocking construction as my Harry Potter Pull Top Gift Card Holders so if you’re looking for a detailed step-by-step guide on constructing the stocking and pull tab, be sure to check that out. Today, though, let’s dive into how the power of SVGs and color can elevate this festive project!
Materials You’ll Need:
• Cherry Cobbler Cardstock: For the stocking
• Basic Black Cardstock: For the back stocking, front cuff, front toe, and Deckled Circle center
• White Willow Cardstock: For the back cuff, toe & heel
• Garden Green Cardstock: For the leaves
• Deckled Circle Dies: To create the center embellishment
• Cherry Cobbler & Clear Adhesive Backed Berries: For embellishments
• Cherry Cobbler & Gold Satin Ribbon: For the stocking loop
• Stampin’ Blends Markers: Cherry Cobbler, Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight, Mossy Meadow
• Garden Green Classic Stampin’ Pad: For inking the edges of leaves
• Standard Crafting Tools: Paper trimmer, adhesive, glue, foam strips

The construction of the stocking is the same. The only difference is the colors and the SVG used.
Using SVG Files for Crafting Custom Grinch Elements
I used SVG files for the Grinch elements, giving me the flexibility to customize the design however I liked. Rather than using pre-colored images, which was a fantastic color already, I printed the Grinch elements in white and colored them by hand using Stampin’ Blends Markers. This approach helped add more depth, texture, and dimension that a flat, pre-colored print couldn’t achieve.
The Power of Color with Stampin’ Blends Markers
The Stampin’ Blends alcohol-based markers are perfect for adding a smooth, professional finish to your crafting projects. Hand-coloring the Grinch SVG allowed me to achieve depth and detail beyond what you’d get from a standard print. For instance, layering different shades of Granny Apple Green brought out the details of the Grinch’s face, capturing his mischievous expression in a way that a single color couldn’t.
The big color selection available in the Stampin’ Blends range also makes it easy to match colors to any project theme. I used Cherry Cobbler, Granny Apple Green, Mossy Meadow, and Daffodil Delight, which all paired beautifully with the Stampin’ Up! Cherry Cobbler Cardstock I used for the stocking. The variety of shades offered by Stampin’ Up! gives endless possibilities for customizing your projects, whether you want soft, muted tones or something bold and festive.
Adding Extra Details with Die Cuts and Embellishments
I used Poinsettia Petals Die Cuts for the leaves to add even more dimension. Cutting them out of Garden Green Cardstock and inking the edges with Mossy Meadow provided beautiful shading that added to the natural, festive look of the leaves. Topping it off with Cherry Cobbler & Clear adhesive-backed berries added just the right touch of sparkle and festivity.
Final Thoughts
This Grinch Stocking Pull Top Gift Card Holder is not only a charming way to give a gift but also a fantastic opportunity to experiment with SVG files and Stampin’ Blends. The result is a stunning handcrafted piece that adds a personal touch to any holiday gift. Seeing the joy in my little man’s eyes—he called it “the best one yet!”—was absolutely worth the crafting effort!
