Inspired by a holiday movie night with my little man (shoutout to National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation for keeping the traditions alive!), these Mickey & Minnie hot cocoa cards are packed with festive charm, nostalgic comfort, and of course, a touch of Disney magic!

Bringing My Mickey & Minnie Hot Cocoa Christmas Cards To Life

My Mickey and Minnie hot cocoa card layout in Design Space®️—a great tool for planning and creating unique elements!

Before cutting a single piece of paper, I turned to Cricut®️ Design Space®️ to plan my project. This tool allowed me to visualize my layout and create elements I didn’t have in my stash, like the Mickey and Minnie silhouettes and Minnie’s signature polka dot bow. Design Space®️ gave me precise measurements and the freedom to tweak my design before diving into the crafting process.

🖍️🎨 What You’ll Need to Craft These Magical Cards

Before we start, gather these card-making must-haves to bring Mickey & Minnie to life!

• Cardstock:

• Stampin’ Up! Basic White 8-1/2” x 11” Thick Cardstock (card base)

• Stampin’ Up! White Willow 12x12 Cardstock (for all stamped images)

• Stampin' Up! Real Red 8-1/2” x 11” Cardstock (mats and mugs)

• Garden Green Cardstock or CTMH Jade Cardstock (holly leaves)

• Basic Black 8-1/2" x 11" Cardstock (Mickey and Minnie silhouettes)

• Inks and Tools:

• Stampin’ Up! Real Red Classic Stampin’ Pad and Sponge Dauber (inking edges)

• CTMH Linen Ink (whipped cream stamping)

• Stampin’ Up! Stampin' Blends Markers in Shaded Spruce (for holly leaf detailing) & Real Red (for holly berry circles)

• CTMH Clear Shimmer Brush (to add sparkle)

• Dies, Embossing Folders, and Stamps:

• Stampin' Up! So Swirly Embossing Folder (background texture)

• CTMH Hug in a Mug Stamp & Thin Cuts Set (mugs, whipped cream, and sentiment)

• Stampin’ Up! Poinsettia Petals Bundle (holly leaves)

• Embellishments:

• Stampin’ Up! White Loose Snowflakes

• Red and white candy canes (cut from Cricut®️)

• Cinnamon sticks (cut from Cricut®️)

• Polka dot bow embellishment for Minnie Mouse & Mickey & Minnie Silhouettes (cut from Cricut®️)

✂️ Step-by-Step: Creating Your Disney Hot Cocoa Christmas Cards!

Follow these easy steps to turn cardstock into Christmas magic!

✂️ Step 1: Prepping the Card Base & Mats

1️⃣ Start with a sturdy base: Cut Stampin’ Up! Basic White Thick Cardstock to 5-1/2” x 4-1/4” for a crisp, high-quality foundation.

2️⃣ Layer for a bold backdrop: Cut Real Red Cardstock to the same size (5-1/2” x 4-1/4”) and adhere it to the card base for a rich, festive pop of color.

3️⃣ Add texture & dimension: Cut a piece of Basic White Cardstock to 5-1/4” x 4” and run it through the So Swirly Embossing Folder to create a gorgeous, raised pattern. Once embossed, adhere it directly onto the Real Red mat.

💡 Pro Tip: When embossing, lightly mist your cardstock with water before running it through the machine—this prevents cracking and gives you an ultra-crisp impression!

✂️ Step 2: Creating the Festive Mugs & Holly Leaves

Die-cut and detailed pieces ready for assembly! 1️⃣ Die-Cut the Mugs:

Using the CTMH Hug in a Mug Thin Cuts Set, cut two mugs from Real Red Cardstock.

2️⃣ Add Depth with Ink:

Lightly ink the edges of each mug using a Sponge Dauber and Stampin’ Up! Real Red Ink. This subtle shading creates dimension and makes the mugs look extra cozy!

3️⃣ Die-Cut the Holly Leaves:

• Use Garden Green or CTMH Jade Cardstock and the Stampin’ Up! Poinsettia Petals Bundle to cut out the holly leaves.

• To enhance the detail, ink the edges of the leaves with a Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blends Marker (Dark).

• For an even more realistic look, use the Light Shaded Spruce Blends Marker to trace over the embossed veins on the leaves.

💡 Pro Tip: Want extra dimension? Cut an extra set of holly leaves, slightly bend them at the center, and layer them using a small foam dot to create a 3D effect!

✂️ Step 3: Adding the Mickey & Minnie Magic! 🐭✨

Adding the magic! Mickey and Minnie Mouse silhouettes are cut from Basic Black cardstock and adhered to the mugs. Minnie gets her signature touch with a polka dot bow for extra charm.

1️⃣ Die-Cut the Silhouettes:

• Using Cricut® Design Space®, cut Mickey and Minnie Mouse silhouettes from Basic Black Cardstock.

• These classic shapes bring instant Disney charm to your design!

2️⃣ Attach the Silhouettes to the Mugs:

• Position Mickey and Minnie on the front of each mug and adhere them securely.

• Make sure they’re centered for the best visual impact!

3️⃣ Give Minnie Her Signature Look:

• No Minnie Mouse design is complete without her iconic polka dot bow!

• Cut a small bow from polka dot paper (or solid red & hand-draw the dots) and adhere it to the top of Minnie’s silhouette for that extra touch of cuteness.

💡 Pro Tip: Want to add even more personality? Try lightly inking the edges of the silhouettes with Whisper White Ink to give them a little extra depth!

Now that our Mickey & Minnie mugs are ready, let’s load them up with festive toppings! ☕🎄

🎄 Step 4: Assembling the Festive Mug Design! ☕✨

Now it’s time to bring these holiday mugs to life with all the festive fixings!

1️⃣ Position the Mugs:

• Adhere the Mickey & Minnie mugs to the center of your card base.

• Make sure to leave room at the top for all the delicious holiday toppings!

2️⃣ Add the Candy Canes & Cinnamon Sticks:

• Tuck the candy canes and cinnamon sticks inside the mugs, slightly angled for a natural, overflowing look.

• Pro Tip: Use foam tape on one or two of the candy canes for extra dimension—it’ll look like they’re popping out of the mug!

3️⃣ Arrange the Holly Leaves:

• Place holly leaves around the base of each mug to frame the design.

• Layer a few for depth and lightly curl the edges with your fingers for a more realistic touch.

🎄 Step 5: Topping It Off with Whipped Cream Magic! ☕✨

Add dimension and texture to your card by creating oversized whipped cream dollops with Cricut®️ and stamping intricate details using the CTMH Hug in a Mug Stamp Set with Linen Ink.

No holiday cocoa is complete without a generous swirl of whipped cream! Let’s add that fluffy, festive touch:

1️⃣ Cut the Whipped Cream Dollops:

• Use Cricut®️ to cut oversized whipped cream shapes for a bold, eye-catching look.

• If you don’t have a Cricut, you can hand-cut simple cloud-like shapes from White Willow cardstock—they’ll still look adorable!

2️⃣ Stamp the Texture Details:

• Lightly stamp swirled texture onto the whipped cream pieces using the CTMH Hug in a Mug Stamp Set and Linen Ink.

• This adds depth and gives the illusion of creamy, fluffy goodness!

3️⃣ Attach for a 3D Effect:

• Foam tape is your best friend here! Pop those whipped cream dollops onto the mugs, slightly overlapping the rims for a realistic, overflowing effect.

🔥 Pro Tip: Want even MORE dimension? Add a swipe of CTMH Clear Shimmer Brush to the edges for a subtle, frosty sparkle! ✨

Complete your festive design by positioning adorable gingerbread men, adding a whimsical touch of holiday cheer. These charming accents perfectly tie together the candy canes, cinnamon sticks, and holly leaves for a warm and joyful finish!

• Stamp the sentiment “Warm Winter Wishes” from the CTMH Home for Christmas Card-making Set and adhere it to the bottom of the card.

🎄 Step 6: Sweet Finishing Touches! 🍪✨

Add foam tape to the titles for dimension and adhere them to the card. Finish with Stampin’ Up! White Loose Snowflakes or Cricut®️-cut snowflakes, and brush shimmer over the design for a frosty, magical sparkle!

Now it’s time to bring ALL the holiday charm together with adorable gingerbread accents, a cozy sentiment, and just the right amount of shimmer!

1️⃣ Position the Gingerbread Men:

• Place the gingerbread embellishments around the mugs as shown in the photo, nestling them among the holly leaves and candy canes.

• These little cuties add a whimsical, warm-baked touch to the design!

2️⃣ Stamp & Add the Sentiment:

• Using CTMH Home for Christmas Card-Making Set, stamp “Warm Winter Wishes” in Real Red ink onto White Willow cardstock.

• Adhere it to the bottom of the card for a cozy, heartfelt finish.

3️⃣ Frosted Snowflake Magic! ❄️✨

• Scatter Stampin’ Up! White Loose Snowflakes (or Cricut-cut snowflakes) around the card.

• Lightly brush shimmer over the snowflakes with a Clear Shimmer Brush to give them a frosty, magical glow!

🔥 Pro Tip: Want to take it up a notch? Layer two snowflakes together and bend the edges slightly for an extra dimensional, delicate touch!
