Homecoming: More Than Just a Tux and Flowers"
When it comes to a High School Homecoming Dance, it may seem like "guys" have it easy compared to the elaborate preparations girls undertake. While girls worry about the dress, shoes, hair, makeup, jewelry, nails, and more, the assumption is that guys can get by with a tux and showing up – but wait, it's not that simple!
Beyond just the tuxedo, guys have to consider the finer details like the shirt, tie, handkerchief, cummerbund, suspenders, cufflinks, belt, socks, and shoes. And let's not overlook the importance of the haircut, shave, cologne, and watch to complete the polished look for the event.
The checklist doesn't end there - there's also arranging transportation, booking a photographer, planning dinner, and, of course, the crucial task of selecting the perfect flowers.
When faced with the challenge of choosing the right flowers for Homecoming, the struggle is real – especially when multiple girls are involved, each with their own dress style. After much deliberation and visits to various flower shops, a decision is made on the "friendly flowers" in multiple colors, a choice that was well-received by all the girls.
The discovery of the CTMH - Bring Back My Pack "Skylark" collection sparked excitement as it perfectly complemented the Homecoming flowers, featuring classic designs updated in fresh colors alongside coordinating products like a sticker sheet, cardstock packet, and a My Acrylix® stamp set.
Detailing the measurements and accents used in the creative process, each element is carefully selected to enhance the story captured in the layout. From the frame sizes to the paper colors and embellishments, every piece contributes to the overall aesthetic and theme of the project.
Here are the measurments I used:
Accents:
“Limeade” paper measures 7.50 x 5.5
“Shortbread” color paper measures 10.50 x 2.
Double photo mat:
Black measures 7.5 x 5.5
White measures 7.25 x 5.25
Photo is 5x7
Film strip is from the "Sweet Memories" Digital Art collection and measures 2.83 x 8.5.
Embellishments:
stamp and thin set collections.
The colors of the flowers are "Lagoon", "Limeade" & "Sundance" and applied with a blending brush.
The journaling card is cut in "Limeade" and "White Dasiy" from the Stitched Fancy Brackets Thin Cuts (https://aprilraine.closetomyheart.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=14144&ci=28307).
The title was made in Design Space and cut on my Cricut.
The finishing touches, including adding sparkle with a "Clear Shimmer Brush" and the recognition from the son's approving eye, elevate the project to a special moment of shared appreciation and creativity.
In the end, the journey of preparing for High School Homecoming proves to be more than just a tux and flowers for the guys, encompassing a range of considerations and details that culminate in an unforgettable experience.
