This layout captures an unforgettable first trip filled with adventure and surprises!

Crafting this layout brought me right back to that magical first trip to Disneyland, our first day at California Adventure, and the moment we ran into Pluto! Walking from Soarin’ to Grizzly River Run, we weren’t expecting to see anyone special, but BAM—there he was, strolling out like he owned the place. Naturally, I made my son run over to him, and I’m so glad I did. This was the first—and only—photo we’ve ever snagged with Pluto.

With so many “firsts” packed into this one moment, I wanted to create a layout that captured the spontaneity and magic of it all. Let’s dive into how this page came together and how I used the elements of that story to inspire my design.

📸 Disney Adventure Scrapbook Layout: Capturing Grizzly Peak Airfield Magic - One Page at a Time!

Mapping out the magic! I adapted this Design Space® layout from a previous Soarin’ project to perfectly capture the adventure of the day.
Mapping out the magic! I adapted this Design Space layout from a previous Soarin’ project to perfectly capture the adventure of the day.

When I started planning this layout, I wanted every element to reflect that day's adventure. I had already created a similar layout for Soarin’, so pulling up my saved design in Design Space® made it easy to adapt to this project.

The globe/map-inspired center represents the journey we were on, while the airplane and clouds tie in the Grizzly Peak Airfield theme. The bold photos framed by stars and arrows help bring focus to that magical character meet-and-greet with Pluto.

Supplies That Made This Disneyland Scrapbook Layout Magical

• CTMH Sapphire Cardstock (can substitute Stampin' Up! Night Of Navy): for the globe and border

🖍️ Inks & Coloring:

• CTMH Periwinkle Exclusive Inks (Stampin’ Up! Boho Blue alternative) – Cloud inking

Stamp & Thin Cut Bundles:

• Stampin’ Up! Adventurous Sky Bundle: for the die-cut airplane

💡 Pro Tip: Mixing digital and traditional elements can help you create a unique, one-of-a-kind scrapbook design!

🖌️ Step-by-Step: A Disney Scrapbook Layout Worthy of Main Street!

Once I had everything mapped out in Design Space®, the rest was easy.

1️⃣ Start with the Border

To save paper and reduce weight, I cut a 10”x10” square from the center of a piece of CTMH Sapphire Cardstock. This piece witll be the border.

• Trim White Willow Cardstock to 11-1/2” x 11-1/2” and adhere it to the center of the Sapphire border. This clean, crisp background makes the other elements pop.

2️⃣ Create the Embellishments

• I started by designing my layout in Design Space®, using the CTMH Let’s Go Anywhere Digital Art Kit to create custom embellishments.

• Using the Print Then Cut feature, I printed and cut elements like planes, arrows, stars, and other decorative details to match the travel and adventure theme.

• For the globe centerpiece, I cut the base from CTMH Sapphire Cardstock and layered it over Stampin’ Up! Take to the Sky DSP to add depth and visual interest.

• The airplane was die-cut using the Adventurous Sky Bundle, cut from CTMH Shortbread and Scarlet Cardstock to achieve a bold, vintage aviation look.

💡 Pro Tip: Using a combination of Print Then Cut elements and die-cut layers helps add variety and texture to your layouts while making design assembly easier!

3️⃣ Bring in the Clouds

Gray paper border strips with various cutout designs, including hearts and leaves, on a plain, light background. Minimalistic and elegant.

• Die-cut clouds from White Willow Cardstock using the Fancy Borders Thin Cuts.

• Lightly ink the cloud edges with CTMH Periwinkle Ink using a sponge dauber.

• For extra depth, use a blending brush to add soft swirls of color, giving the clouds a natural, airy feel.

💡 No Fancy Borders Thin Cuts? No problem!

If you don’t have the dies, simply freehand cut cloud shapes across a 12x12 piece of White Willow Cardstock. Organic, hand-cut edges will make each cloud look uniquely whimsical!

Pro Tip: Add a light coat of Clear Shimmer Brush to the cloud edges for a subtle sparkle that enhances the dreamy sky effect!

4️⃣ Assemble the Background Layers

Sky-high storytelling! The layered clouds frame a cityscape-inspired backdrop, reinforcing the aerial adventure theme and making this layout truly take flight!

• I cut a wide strip from Stampin’ Up! Take to the Sky 12x12 DSP and adhere it across the center of the layout.

• I specifically chose this patterned paper because its aerial cityscape design subtly reinforces the theme of flight and adventure—perfect for capturing the feel of Grizzly Peak Airfield!

• Once the center strip was in place, I layered the cloud strips above and below it, framing the scene and enhancing the sky-high effect of the layout.

💡 Pro Tip: Placing clouds both above and below the central strip helps create depth and makes the background feel more immersive, almost like looking out of an airplane window!

5️⃣ Position the Airplane & Globe for Maximum Impact

Bringing the story to life - this globe centerpiece represents our magical journey through Disneyland!

• Begin by placing the airplane in the top-left corner of the layout.

• To create a sense of movement and depth, tuck the tail end of the airplane slightly behind a cloud. This simple trick makes it look like the plane is flying through the scene, adding a dynamic touch!

• Once the airplane is in place, position the globe directly beneath it, centering it within the layout. This arrangement balances the design while reinforcing the illusion that the plane is soaring across the sky on a grand adventure!

💡 Pro Tip: Layering elements like clouds and die-cuts helps create depth and motion in your scrapbook pages, making your designs feel more immersive and visually engaging!

6️⃣ Add the Photos

Center of the adventure! Double-matted photos steal the spotlight, perfectly placed at the heart of the globe to capture this unforgettable Disney moment!
Center of the adventure! Double-matted photos steal the spotlight, perfectly placed at the heart of the globe to capture this unforgettable Disney moment!

• Trim two 3” x 4” photos and double-mat them using White Willow and Scarlet Cardstock for a bold, polished look.

• The final photo size should be 3-1/2” x 4-1/2” after matting.

• Arrange the photos in a staggered formation at the center of the globe, ensuring they become the focal point of the layout.

7️⃣ Add Titles & Final Touches

Stars, arrows, and adventure-inspired embellishments tie everything together for a high-flying layout!
Stars, arrows, and adventure-inspired embellishments tie everything together for a high-flying layout!

• Place the Grizzly Peak Airfield title prominently at the top, ensuring it stands out as the main text element.

• Use foam tape under the title to create dimension, giving it a bold, eye-catching lift.

• Scatter stars, arrows, and embellishments throughout the page to create a visual triangle, drawing attention across the layout.

💡 Want a fuller sky effect?

Extend the clouds up the page for a whimsical, floating effect that enhances the adventure theme!

8️⃣ Incorporate Journaling for the Story Behind the Memory

Small space? No problem!
Small space? No problem!

• Since space was limited, I printed my journaling onto an Avery clear label and placed it discreetly on the page.

• This seamless look allows the text to blend beautifully into the design without covering up the clouds or key layout elements.

💡 Pro Tip: If you want to preserve the clean look of your layout, try hidden journaling by tucking a small note behind a photo or embellishment!

💡Pro Tips for Extra Magic

Foam tape makes the ‘Grizzly Peak Airfield’ title pop, giving it a bold focal point

💡*Want a softer look? Add clouds down the page from top to bottom for a dreamy sky effect.

💡*Add shimmer! A little Clear Shimmer Brush on the cloud edges makes them sparkle without overpowering the design.
