🌷 Patterned Paper: CTMH Secret Garden Paper Pack

🌿 Cardstock: Periwinkle, Sage, French Vanilla

✨ Embellishments: Pecan Pie Clear & Ribboned Dots

🖌 Inks: Sage & Periwinkle for that soft, blended look

✂️ Tools: Secret Garden Thin Cuts Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Adhesive

🔠 Title: Designed in Cricut Design Space®️ & cut with Cricut®️

💡 Pro Tip: Want to switch things up? This design works beautifully as a single-page OR part of a two-page spread!

🎨 Step-by-Step: Creating This Floral Showstopper!

Step 1: Creating a Strong Foundation

To set the stage for this elegant scrapbook layout, I began with a 12x12 floral patterned paper from the Secret Garden Collection as my base. The soft, botanical design perfectly captured the serene beauty of Bellagio’s springtime display.

💡 Pro Tip: When working with bold floral backgrounds, choose complementary colors for your layers to enhance, rather than compete with, the design!

Step 2: Softening the Background for Balance

✂️ The secret to a balanced scrapbook layout? Layering patterned papers strategically! This floral & polka-dot combo sets the stage for an elegant Bellagio-inspired design.

Since the floral print was quite vibrant, I toned it down by layering a soft dotted patterned paper over the top. To add visual interest, I cut this layer diagonally before adhering it to the corners of the page. This technique helped balance the layout while still letting the beautiful floral pattern shine through.

💡 Pro Tip: Diagonal cuts add movement to your layout and create a unique, layered look! Try this technique with different patterned papers for added depth.

Step 3: Defining the Central Design Area

Creating a Strong Focal Point! 🎯 A 10x10 French Vanilla cardstock layer helps tone down bold patterns while giving your photos & journaling a polished, structured space.

To ensure my photos and journaling had a strong focal point, I cut a 10x10 piece of French Vanilla cardstock and centered it on the page. This neutral base helped tone down the bold floral elements while giving my design a structured, polished look.

💡 Pro Tip: A neutral cardstock layer can help prevent busy background patterns from overwhelming your photos, keeping the focus where it belongs!

Step 4: Elevating the Journaling Block

A journaling block isn’t just a place for notes—it should enhance the layout’s overall design! To make sure it stood out while complementing the page, I created a custom journaling area on the left-hand side using these steps:

✔ Cut a journaling block from French Vanilla cardstock and matted it onto Periwinkle cardstock for a soft yet defined contrast.

✔ Added hand-drawn lines spaced ½” apart to create a polished, effortless space for writing.

💡 Pro Tip: Hand-drawn lines add a personal touch and ensure your journaling stays neat and uniform! If you prefer a printed look, try lightly stamping lines or using a journaling template.

Step 5: Enhancing the Right Side with Subtle Florals

🌿 A subtle floral patterned paper enhances the right side of the layout, reinforcing the garden-inspired theme of the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens!

To balance the design and reinforce the botanical theme, I added a soft floral patterned paper to the right-hand side of the French Vanilla base.

✔ This subtle floral print complemented the bolder background without overpowering the layout.

✔ Because it was layered next to the delicate dotted pattern, it added texture without making the page feel too busy.

✔ While I could have skipped this step, I really wanted to capture the essence of the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens—a place known for its breathtaking floral displays!

💡 Pro Tip: When working with multiple patterned papers, pair bold prints with softer, complementary ones to maintain balance and prevent visual overload.

This small addition tied the layout together beautifully, making it feel immersive and true to the Bellagio experience! 🌿✨

Step 6: Framing & Staggering the Photos

Scrapbook page with photos of a floral garden and swans. Embellished with blue and green paper flowers on a dotted lavender background.
📸 A Soft & Stunning Photo Frame! 📷🌿 Double-matted in Sage & French Vanilla cardstock, these photos stand out beautifully while blending seamlessly with the elegant floral background!

To ensure the photos stood out while maintaining harmony with the layout, I double-matted two 4x6 photos using French Vanilla and Sage cardstock.

✔ The French Vanilla mat created a soft, elegant frame that separated the photos from the background.

✔ The Sage layer added a subtle pop of color, enhancing the overall design without overwhelming it.

Once matted, I adhered the photos to the right-hand side of the layout, staggering them slightly over the softer floral patterned paper.

💡 Pro Tip: Staggering photos at slight angles adds a natural flow and prevents the layout from looking too rigid. If you prefer a cleaner look, keep them straight but overlap them slightly for a dimensional effect.

This placement drew the eye to the heart of the layout while maintaining a balanced and visually pleasing design. ✨📸

Step 7: A Title That’s Short, Sweet & Chic!

Green and blue paper flowers on floral paper surround text "Bellagio Spring 2023." Includes yellow accents and marble-like background.
Designed in Cricut Design Space® and layered for a bold yet elegant look, this custom-cut title anchors the layout while complementing the dreamy color palette!

A well-designed title can set the tone for an entire layout!

Using Cricut®, I created a simple yet elegant title that simply read “Bellagio.”

✔ The blue lettering beautifully complemented the floral patterned paper, enhancing the soft, botanical aesthetic.

✔ To keep the design clean and balanced, I adhered the title directly onto the journaling strip, just above the hand-drawn lines.

💡 Pro Tip: When placing a title, consider contrast and spacing. Layering it over a lightly matted background or adding a subtle offset can help it stand out while keeping it cohesive with the overall design.

This title not only anchors the layout but also lets the photos and embellishments shine! ✨

Step 8: Florals, Foliage & Just the Right Touch of Sparkle!

Floral single page scrapbook layout with embossed green and blue flowers. Text reads "Bellagio Spring 2023." Background has floral patterns.
Dimensional Details That Wow! 💙🌿 Layered flowers, inked edges, and just the right touch of sparkle—these die-cut blooms bring the Bellagio’s botanical magic to life! ✂️✨

What’s a botanical-inspired scrapbook layout without lush florals and elegant accents? This final step brought everything together, adding movement, texture, and a touch of shimmer!

🌿 Layered Florals & Leaves – I used the Secret Garden Thin Cuts Dies to create stunning dimensional flowers and foliage in Sage & Periwinkle, perfectly complementing the background patterns.

🖌 Inked Edges for a Soft Glow – A quick swipe of Sage and Periwinkle Ink around the edges of the die cuts added depth, making the florals look more lifelike and giving them a gentle, blended effect.

✨ Pecan Pie Dots = Instant Elegance! – Because every bloom deserves a little sparkle! I placed Pecan Pie Dots at the center of each flower for a refined, polished touch that subtly catches the light.

💡 Pro Tip: When layering floral embellishments, slightly bend or curl the petals and leaves with your fingers to create a natural dimension. This small detail makes them look more organic and adds a soft, flowing effect to your page!

And with that, this Bellagio-inspired scrapbook layout officially blooms to life! 🌸✨

🔥 Pro Tips for a Flawless Layout!

✔ Ink the Edges for Dimension! – Lightly inking your cardstock adds depth & contrast.

✔ Use Patterned Paper for Die-Cuts! – It creates extra texture & interest!

✔ Layer Your Florals! – Stacked flowers = more dynamic & realistic!

✔ Mix & Match Titles! – Try combining die-cut letters & stamped words for extra detail!
