CTMH Looking Forward: A First-Day-of-School Scrapbook Layout Designed by My Son! šŸ“šāœØ

Updated: Feb 14

There’s something truly special about a first scrapbook layout. It’s more than just paper and ink—it’s a memory captured forever, and in this case, a proud mom moment like no other! šŸ’™

šŸ“ø ā€œA Scrapbook Milestone! Little man’s first-ever 12x12 layout—bold, creative, and full of personality!ā€

When my son decided he wanted to help design his own scrapbook page, I was beyond thrilled! He picked the papers, helped design the layout, and—let’s be honest—may have totally taken over the entire process. šŸ˜‚ The result? A bold, fun, and totally unique scrapbook page celebrating his first day of school using the CTMH Looking Forward Stamp & Thin Cuts set!

(Well… sort of his first day of school. We got a little too excited and titled it 7th grade… but SURPRISE—it was actually 6th grade! šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜‚ Instead of fixing it, we decided to leave it and make it part of the story! Because real life = real memories!)

Inspirational text with phrases: "The Best Is Yet to Come," "The Magic of New Beginnings," "Goals," "Adventures," set against a light background.
šŸ› ļø The Creative Powerhouse! Most of the embellishments on this layout came straight from the CTMH Looking Forward stamp set—talk about stamping magic!

Step 1: Picking the Perfect Papers šŸ“„

My son dove straight into my stash and picked two bold patterns from the CTMH Jan/Feb Mix-In Pack. He was laser-focused on making this layout look cool, and let’s just say—he NAILED it.

Handpicked Perfection! Every paper choice was made by my little man—and let’s be real, he nailed it!

Step 2: Planning the Layout with CTMH Looking Forward āœļø

This is where things got serious. He grabbed a ruler (I never do that—who is this kid? šŸ˜‚) and started planning where the photo, title, and embellishments should go. We measured, cut, and stacked layers until everything felt just right!

šŸ“ Here’s the breakdown of our page measurements:

• Frame 1: 12x12 with a 1-inch gut

• Frame 2: 11x11 with a 1-inch gut

• White Daisy cardstock: 10.75x10.75

• Horizontal piece: 10.75 x 3.75

• Large vertical dots: 4x9

• Diagonal stripe: 4.5 x 6.5

• Black cardstock photo mat: 4.5 x 6.5

• Red photo mat: 4.25 x 6.25

• Photo: 4x6

CTMH Looking Forward: The Finishing Touches šŸŽØāœØ

šŸ’” Ink Blending Like a Pro!

He grabbed my Linen Ink Pad and a blending brush to soften the white cardstock. (Excuse me, sir, are you a professional crafter now?)

āœ” ā€œGoalsā€ arrow pointing to his school-year ambitions

āœ” Foam tape for dimension (because everything needs to stand out!)

Birthday-themed graphics: gift box, balloons, party hat, text "Birthday," numbers 0-9, and banners "HAPPY" and "isn't that old!" in black/white.
Where ā€˜7th’ Came to Life! The Let’s Party Stamp & Die set brought the perfect bold lettering to this first-day-of-school masterpiece!

āœ” Custom title using the Let’s Party Stamp + Thin Cuts

āœ” That last-minute red cardstock strip—it made the whole layout pop!
