Hello, fellow crafters and creatives!
I have a confession to make - I've never been a huge fan of gnomes. So, when I heard that Close To My Heart was releasing the "Gnomes For Winter" scrapbook and card-making kits, I wasn't sure it would be my cup of tea. But let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised!
The patterned papers in this collection are not only adorable but the combination of Saphire, Jade, Periwinkle, Expresso, and Mist colors give the collection a crisp, clean, fresh winter vibe that is far from the typical gnome-themed aesthetic. It's simply a gorgeous collection that captures the essence of the winter season in a beautiful way.
I recently put together a 12x12 single-page scrapbook layout using the leftover scraps from my previous double-page layout, and I must say, it was a breeze to create. Here's a summary of how I brought this layout to life:
For the layers, I used different sizes of patterned paper pieces, rubbing the edges along my Saphire ink pad for a distressed look. The base was White Daisy cardstock trimmed down and attached to a "gutted" piece of Saphire cardstock, creating a stylish framed effect.
To add some wintry flair, I incorporated snowflakes leftover from the Close To My Heart "Evergreen Digital Art Kit" onto the White Daisy cardstock. After blending Saphire ink over them, I removed the snowflakes to reveal a beautiful, subtle design.
The embellishments, including charming snowmen and titles, were from the "Gnomes For Winter Scrapbooking Stamps and Thin Cuts." I layered circles on Jade and White Daisy cardstock, adding stitching details for an extra touch of texture and dimension. And of course, I couldn't resist adding a hint of sparkle by going over the snowflakes and snowmen with a clear shimmer brush.
I was truly thrilled with how this page turned out, capturing the memories of our first snow trip to Mount Charleston. It just goes to show that sometimes, a collection can surprise you - never judge a collection by its name, right?
