Crafting Compassion: A Handmade Card for Courage

Hello, crafty friends! April here from This Chick Loves Paper. Today, I want to show you how versatile your stamp collection can be, especially when creating heartfelt projects for those we care about. This tutorial is about a special card I made for a dear friend battling cancer—a project close to my heart as a cancer survivor myself.

Materials Used:

• Stampin’ Up! Trusty Tools Stamp & Thin Cut

• 5x7 card base and envelope

• Foam tape

• Glue

• CTMH Black Cardstock for nuts and screw dies

• CTMH Charcoal Cardstock for the pegboard

Crafting the Card:

1. Base Preparation: I started with the 5x7 card base and added the Stampin’ Up! 2024–2026 IN COLOR™ 6" X 6" (15.2 X 15.2 CM) DESIGNER SERIES PAPER, leaving a small white border.

2. Stamping and Die-Cutting: Using the “Trusty Tools” Stamp & Thin Cuts, I stamped the images and colored them with the PRETTY IN PINK STAMPIN’ BLENDS COMBO PACK—a nod to cancer awareness and a touch of femininity.

3. Detailing Elements: I die-cut nuts and screws from CTMH Black Cardstock and crafted a pegboard from Charcoal Cardstock, which I then centered on the designer paper.

4. Sentiment Creation: The sentiment, a personal and encouraging phrase my friend often uses, was designed in Design Space® and cut with my Cricut®.

5. Assembly: I arranged the tools on the pegboard, adding the sentiment prominently. The INDUSTRIAL TRINKETS, resembling bolts, were added to the corners to mimic a board mounted on a wall.

Closing Thoughts:

Sending this card will be a joy, knowing it’s tailored just for her, carrying strength and affection. Remember, you don’t need a specific reason to send a card. Handmade cards are a powerful way to show someone they’re in your thoughts.
