Each year, my son and I embark on a magical journey to Disneyland for our Christmas vacation, and the Californian Grand Hotel has become our sanctuary of solace and comfort.
Nestled amidst the beauty of pines, woodlands, and shrubs, this 6-story lodge-like hotel offers a serene and cozy retreat away from the bustling theme parks,
Walking Into the Grand Lobby
Upon entering the grand lobby through its enchanting stained-glass doors, we’re welcomed by a warmth that only the soft glow of holiday lights and a crackling fireplace can provide. The scent of fresh gingerbread permeates the air, setting a festive tone that is both inviting and exhilarating.
Home Away From Home
Dominating the lobby, a spectacular Christmas tree decked with rustic ornaments captures our hearts annually, making the Californian Grand Hotel feel like our home away from home during the festive season. This feeling of warmth and familiarity is perfectly captured in my scrapbooking, through the “Home For Christmas” collection by Close To My Heart (CTMH).
About the CTMH - Home For Christmas Collection:
This collection features traditional Christmas motifs—holly leaves, twinkling stars, and serene winter landscapes—in rich, warm colors like reds, greens, and creamy whites, accented with festive gold and silver. It’s designed to evoke nostalgia and warmth, ideal for my holiday-themed crafts.
Materials Used:
• CTMH ‘Home for Christmas’ Patterned Paper: Festive motifs in soft pastels.
• CTMH Cardstock: Colors include Pine, White Daisy, Black, Scarlet, Mocha, and Honey Butter.
• CTMH ‘Home For Christmas’ Digital Art Kit: Provides digital embellishments and titles.
• Cricut®️ Machine: Essential for printing and cutting designs.
Crafting the Layout in Design Space®️:
I began by recreating the layout I wanted to use in Design Space®️, which helped me plan the layout’s dimensions and the placement of embellishments. This digital mockup was crucial for visualizing the final page and ensuring that all elements harmonized with the theme.
Crafting Memories at the Californian Grand Hotel
1. Design Preparation: I utilized Design Space®️ to plan and visualize the layout, ensuring all elements harmonize with the holiday theme.
2. Print and Cut: Using my Cricut®, I precisely cut out the titles and embellishments.
3. Arranging the Papers: The patterned papers were carefully layered onto a White Daisy cardstock base.
4. Inking for Atmosphere: Inspired by the hotel’s ambient lighting, I applied Honey Butter ink to give the page a soft, warm glow, echoing the cozy atmosphere of the lobby.
5. Assembly: I meticulously adhered all elements using a combination of adhesive, glue, and foam tape to add depth and dimension to the layout.
Final Thoughts
The creation of this scrapbook page, though one of my earlier projects, filled me with pride as it beautifully captured the nostalgia and warmth of our unforgettable Disneyland Christmas vacation..
